The general rule says: The thicker and the heavier a padding – the
warmer. But this is only partly true. A significant influence on the
insulation capacity is created by the right choice of fibers. Lower
denier fibers are able to capture more air which results in better
insulation. For example, Ecodown 115 HL shows a better “clo” value
than an ordinary 150 gr. padding. In an average jacket that utilizes
1.5m of insulation, this can reduce overall weight by over 50gr. So
