In recent years, the increasing cost of duck and goose down have forced the apparel market to seek alternatives. One of the most common solutions has been the use of blown fibers and fiber balls.
These fibers are blown inside the garment in a very similar manner to how down feathers are applied. This provides a very high degree of softness and a high lofting appearance. However, this product has many inherent limitations; such as instability with typical usage and machine washing, is prone to clumping and development of cold spots, and has poor thermal performance after just a short time.
Thermore EVOdown® is inspired by the soft hand and lofty nature of blown fibers, but achieves the desired effect with fewer limitations.
The EVOdown® product can best be described as a "rolled free-fiber composite" and offers encapsulating layers to stabilize the free fibers within the garment. The end result of the composite technology is the reduced incidence of clumping/fiber migration issues and very consistent thermal performance throughout the entire garment.
The EVOdown® offers virtually the same volume and softness as down feathers, but without all the problems associated with a complete free-fiber system. Also, since it is supplied in traditional roll form, it can be used in a more cost effective manner, just like other Thermore products.
Thermore® EVOdown® maintains its structure over time and can also be machine washed and dried with confidence.Thermore EVOdown® is available in 4 weights to best suit every design requirement from ultra-light jackets to extra puffy parkas.
*EVOdown® MUST be quilted in a pattern of 5cm or smaller for the 80g and 115g weights, 10cm or smaller for the 170g weight and 12cm or smaller for the 250g weight . EVOdown® DOES NOT feature Thermore's proprietary treatment against fiber migration. Down-proof, ultra-light fabrics (< 30gsm) are mandatory and should be tested and approved on an individual basis. Ball needles are also required. EVOdown® 250 cannot be dry cleaned.
