The term thermal wadding generally refers to fibrous materials used to line garments. In the more technical sense of the word, it can be used to reference thermal insulation that is used for outerwear and garments to help insulate the body from the cold.
Our materials are typically made of polyester fibers - these synthetic fibers are very durable and make an excellent choice when used as thermal insulation for outerwear. In many cases it’s been shown that thermal wadding made of polyester fibers can outperform natural fibers such cotton, which is slow to dry after getting wet. Synthetic fibers have evolved into an optimal insulation solution and should be considered for your thermal insulation.
The type of material used plus the structures ability to trap air will determine the level of warmth the thermal insulation will have. High-quality polyester fibers, which are both soft and durable, are layered to create a very low-density structure. Air is a very good insulator- and our product is able to trap a great amount of warm air (up to 97% of its volume!), making our thermal insulation the perfect choice for outerwear.
The proper use of insulation for jackets and garments alike are vital components to the overall performance of your outerwear.
